Client Server Setup

Win:Server, Mac:Client

The root folder of Shiraz installation on Win server has to be shared on the network to provide access for Mac clients.

Locate the Shiraz Server root folder which is normally c:\\Shiraz\  unless changed during the installation.

 

Win Setup

The root Shiraz Server folder and all its sub-folders must be SHARED:

The procedure for sharing is OS version dependent and you should consult Microsoft documentation for next step. However the following can be followed as guideline: 

On Windows explorer:

- choose shiraz root folder

- right mouse click and select properties 

- select sharing tab

- in "Network File & Sharing" select Share 

- add user (eg Everyone)

- choose read/write

- press share button

 

Mac Setup

Once the Shiraz Server root folder has been shared on the network from the step above, connect to this shared folder:

run Finder:

- Go and Connect to Server: enter the network name for shared folder eg smb://pc-server

- connect: choose the 'shared shiraz name' in the list,

- press OK

 

Then when you run the Mac client, in the queue wizard chose network queues and choose this shared folder to connect to.

Mac:Server, Win:Client

The Mac Server must have full read/write access to its Shiraz Server files/folders, and more importantly the jobs arriving from the
clients, which could have 'nobody' user ownerships.

 

Mac Setup

 

The procedure for sharing is OS version dependent and you should consult Apple documentation for next step. However the following can be followed as guideline: 

The root server folder and all its sub-folders must be SHARED, with the following user rights:

read and write for "administrators", "everyone" and the currently logged in user.
( Mac:Apple menu:System Preferences:Internet & Wireless:Sharing:File Sharing- add the shiraz root folder with user and permissions ).

The Mac server must have 'remote server' on and admin password must be set, this is the mac admin password, if
the account does not have it, you must create one. ( Server:Preferences:General:Remote Server to ON, Admin password enter your mac admin password ).

 

Win Setup

There are no specific setup to be done on Win, once the above setup has been done, you run the Win client and in the queue wizard select network queues and  choose this shared Mac folder to connect to.
